Who am I?
1. I existed in the beginning. I spoke the world into existence. I am three-in-one, the beginning and the end. Everything belongs to me, even those people who hate me.
My nature is love, and I am the source of love. I sent my son to this perishing world to pay the penalty for the sins of all people. My son died on a cross so that men can be saved and become a part of my family and my kingdom.
From the beginning I have desired to have a special people, My own special people who love me of their own free will and desire to get to know Me. I want to have a personal one-on-one relationship with those who love Me.
I am holy and righteous. But I am jealous for you! I will love you with an everlasting love! Who am I?
2. I was made from the dust of the ground and was the first person ever created. God put me in his beautiful garden and gave me almost every kind of plant to provide my nutrition.
God made all the animals, and I named them. They all had companions, but I was alone. God saw my need and made a helpmate to share the garden with me.
God gave me only one command, but I failed to keep it. Because of that, sin and death came to the world. God disciplined me by making me toil and grow my food for the rest of my life. God sent me and my helpmate out of the beautiful garden so we wouldn’t eat from the forbidden tree and live forever in our depraved condition. Who am I?
3. I am the second son ever born of woman. I was a keeper of sheep. I brought the Lord a sacrifice of the firstborn of my flock and their fat.
I have a brother who worked the ground. He gave God an offering from his harvest. God did not accept my brother’s offering, so he became angry and killed me. My blood cried out from the ground and God came and confronted my brother and disciplined him. Who am I?
4. I existed in the beginning with God and was with God and was God. Through Me all things were made that were made. In me was life and the light of men. Though the world was made through Me, they did not recognize me. I came and dwelled among men, but they did not receive Me. To those who received me I gave the right to become children of God.
I came from the Father full of grace and truth. Who am I?
5. I was made from the rib of man to be a helpmate for him. I was the first woman to ever have a child. I lived in God’s beautiful garden until one day when a serpent tricked me, and I disobeyed God by eating fruit from a forbidden tree and by offering it to my companion.
Because I disobeyed God, He made child-bearing more difficult for all the women who lived after me, and God made me leave His beautiful garden. Who am I?
6. God told me leave my home country and go to a place where he would lead me. He also told me I would have a son in my old age. So, I packed my belongings, and my wife and I left the land of Ur to follow God’s command.
My wife and I had a difficult time waiting for God to fulfill His promise. So, my wife had me lay with her servant and I conceived a child with her.
Later, when I was way too old to have children, God did a miracle and gave me the son he had promised. Later, to my surprise, God asked me to offer this son as a sacrifice on the altar for Him. But thankfully, I passed this trial and God spared my son. Who am I?
7. I was so happy when I got betrothed. Later an angel appeared to me with a message from God–that I would have a child, God’s son.
At first my future husband didn’t believe me when I told him I was going to have a child even though I had never been intimate with a man. My future husband was going to send me away secretly.
Do you know that women from my time period could be stoned for having a child outside of marriage? But God was merciful to me, and an angel of the Lord appeared to my future husband in a dream and told him, “(…) that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.” So, my betrothed and I were married. Later I brought forth my firstborn son–the Son of God. Who am I?
8. I was born the son of a priest and his wife. My mother was barren until she birthed me in her old age.
When my father was serving in the temple an angel of the Lord appeared to him and told him his prayer would be answered and his wife would have a son. The angel also said that I should never have wine or strong drink and that I would be filled with the Holy Spirit even from my mother’s womb.
When I grew up, I lived in the desert and ate locusts and wild honey. I wore camel’s hair with a leather belt around my waist.
My calling was ‘to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.’ Therefore, I came preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” I also baptized people with water. Many came to me to be baptized in the Jordan River.
One day the Son of God came to me to be baptized. Knowing I was not worthy of this honor, I tried to prevent Him from being baptized by me.
But Jesus said, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.”
So, I obeyed and baptized Jesus. When He came up out of the water, behold the heavens were opened and I saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. Then I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Who am I?
9. I was sitting at my tax office when Jesus passed by. To my amazement, He said to me, “Follow Me.” So, I arose and followed Him.
My father’s name is Alphaeus, and some people also call me ‘Levi.’
Jesus came and dined at my house. He sat together with many tax collectors and sinners, and they followed him. When some scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?”
Jesus heard them and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” Who am I?
